Half way through the weekend project.

That amp configuration is just a basic idea of what I might do. I'm not to sure yet.
Surpisingly this install even though it is taking me forever (fear of scatches and breaking something) hasn't gone all that bad. I mounted the crossover with velcro strips to the inside of the door to the lower right in between the black box and the new mount. Seems to be a decent hold. I have other pictures that I will post tm if anyone is interested.
I was also going to try to use the factory wiring but once everything is taken apart it is actually really easy to run new line. Although, out of curiosity I was searching and read that some of you had run the ground to the passenger seat bolt and didn't get any noise. Out of all of you who ran it this way how has it worked out? Have you had to change the ground to somewhere else? I saw woofer's post about the ground in the center between the seats but i don't want to take a chance grounding there.
I mainly posted this to say thanks to everyone who contributes to the forum on a regular basis, you have all given me plenty ideas and insight.

Nice door speakers...interesting that you used a 3 1/2 coaxial there. Also, I dig the fuse. That'll look slick once the LED display is running. Good job!snoopdan
those look like Infinitys. Interesting, did you make your own crossovers to do the 3.5" together with the 6.5"? Or, are there tweeters hooked up to the 6.5"
If so, were are the tweeters? Isn't it great to see things come together. I have some advice though.
The velcro is a good idea but make sure it sticks. It would suck to have to take the door back apart to refasten it. Also, I would like to recommend that you put some sound deadening in while you got your car apart. Lowering the floor noise makes you stereo sound much better to your ears since your ears aren't getting annoying tire and exhaust noise.
Be sure and post more pics of install and finished job.

I'm trying to decide on the head unit I want right now, everything else has been purchased already!
So I'll be where you are in a couple weeks.
I did it this way for the only reason that I want to be able to return the car to 100% stock if there is ever a need to do so. Let me know what you think, if there are any better ideas let me know I'm all
. BTW I was thinking about somehow cusomizing some sort of foam block or something that can disquise all the wiring so all you can see is the amp tops. Any ideas? Brian

Definately sound deaden while it is apart, do a search for mikemercury and/or frost king. It is cheap from Home Depot
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I really need to get ahold of VrumVrum to see about his dash plate. That metra is just a temp. fix for now. It does the job but I really don't like the way that it looks.
I had to redo the rack for the main fact that I forgot about putting the top in the trunk.
It's actually a little cleaner looking now. BTW I didn't leave those wires all exposed against the waterfall like that. I had some left over black carpeting that I was able to neatly tuck around all the wires in the back. I'm still kind of unsure if I want to leave it as is or try to cover up the wiring so all that can be seen is the amp tops and the cap.
Snoopdan I figured I would post this one for you seen as you commented on how the led would look "slick". I know its kinda tough to see that it is working because of the blue led, but it is.
My sub box is still in the process of curing so when that is done I'll post a few more pics. Thanks for the pervious comments guys

Why did you install a capacitor? How many watts are you running total?
Thanks for any tips. I've been struggling all weekend installing a 5 point roll bar that had some fitment/installation issues. I'm still not done. I have Monday off, so hopefully I can finish up and get her all back together. Next weekend I hope to begin what'll probably end up being a 2 months plus, interior/stereo customization project.
BTW I notice that you are talking about a 2 month project must be nice to be able to drive your car during the winter months and save the projects for the summer. I'm basically wrapping up all my projects and getting ready to call Allstate in the next week or two.
Summer comes and goes in New England in blink of an eye.
