Need a few pointers on adding an amp for a sub. I've tried searching but can't find what I'm looking for. I found the very technical article on differentials and pseudo diffs and all that but what I need to know is when I pull my head unit what wires do I tap into? Can someone tell me what colors they are? Also can anyone give me a link or some hints on pulling the head unit? Last is it okay to use a line level converter behind the head unit so I can run RCA's to my amp instead of hi-level inputs?
Thanks in advance.
If your amp will accept speaker-level inputs you can also just tap into the signal at the door woofers, and not have to pull the dash apart (but still the doors).
Thanks for the links, those were what I was looking for. I guess my only question now is if I tap into the line levels won't I need to run those directly into the RCA inputs on the amp? So I'll need to splice the wires directly into a RCA cable??? Sound right?
You can do it however you like, but if you're not handy with electrical stuff the easiest way to get your signal to the amp would be to use two of these on the wires behind the HU. Connect them to the end of a standard RCA cable (long enough to reach your amp) that you have snipped the RCA plug off of at one end.
