I have a 2003 Corvette Z06. I am thinking about replacing the 4 stock Bose speakers (3.5 inch fronts, 5.25 rears) with some similarly sized/better quality speakers and adding an amp to give better boost/sound to these new speakers.
Is this 'simple' upgrade as easy as swapping out the existing speakers and plugging in an external amp to power them?
I've heard that the factory C5 Corvette Bose system can be kind of squirly when it comes to 'plug and play' components.
Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.
you just need to replace the speakers, no external amp is needed. you can get adapters from circuit city so that you do not have to cut the factory plug off of the speaker harness.

it IS plug and play.
Thanks for the info...
Now if I wanted to add an amp to help boost the sound of the 4 speakers, what would be the simplest way to hook that up? Would it be worth installing?
Will replacing the rear speakers add a lot of bass? Or would an infinity basslink be better? Thanks.
Simply replacing the speakers will not yield much better sound quality. I tried it. I ended up replacing the HU, speakers, and adding an amp and a sub. I totally axed the Bose system. You will probably find this is the way to go....
