Default Costco Scanner

While browsing around Costco the other day I ran across one of their scanners. It's about 80 bucks and it looks like it is run on batteries. Seems like it is velcro attach to visor or dash.

I don't really need or want one but I was wondering if anyone tried one of these and how effective in picking up police scanners?

I haven't seen anything like that at my local Costco!! Brand name? Frequency range covered? dual-trunking? More info would be helpful.

I had been looking at a Radio Shack hand-held scanner but they run close to $200 for one that will cover most all VHF/UHF freqs.

Sorry.
I will check again in a few days. I wasn't paying too much attention to it. Just noticed it was around 80 bucks.

Went back to Costco today and the wireless Scanner still there for 85 bucks.
Going by memory....Brand is Sonar. Model is Silver Bullet 7500.
Can track 5 radar and 5 Laser signal. Power by batteries or from cigarette lighter. Attaches to visor or dash by suction cups.

Sounds like a radar detector, not a scanner.

A scanner is for monitoring radio freqs.

Dammit, what kinda crap is that!! Grr..I was wanting to get one for traffic info....oh well!

Well, for people in California, here's a website to find out if it's legal here: http://www.calregs.com/

For all the states, this site is useful: http://www.mit.edu/~jfc/laws.html
