Looks like Valentine One came out with 2-band POP. Does anyone know anything about this type of radar? Isn't it just instant-on, which some municipalities already use? I went to their website and it looks like it's 55 bucks to upgrade. They said it's not recommended, but if I want to stay with the latest technology, I should upgrade. Do you actually get a new radar detector? Thanks.
I just had mine upgraded.
You do not get a new detector. They take your unit and add the new hardware and software. Then they give you a new serial number that reflects the newer parts.
Mine seems to be pick up more hits than before the upgrade but, I have not seen it pick up the new POP alert. But, that is probably a good thing.
Just more false alarms on a dated V-1 that is overpriced with poor customer service.
Please tell me I'm missing the sarcasm...?
Mine was acting up so I called them and described the problem. After asking a few questions the guy told me to send it in. Good as new 2 weeks later, the only cost to me was $10 to ship it to Ohio. I've heard similar reports from other V1 users.

I suspect we'll have a lot more to write about the C6 Z06 after they're delivered and we start accumulating seat time.
For example, soon after delivery, I'll be posting an AAR entitled "1050 miles in one day in a C6 Z06" plus real dyno numbers and drag strip results on stock tires and drag radials.

Ranger
I can hardly wait to see that report, Ranger. No doubt you'll have that bad-boy into the 10's within a few days of delivery.
Have the V1. Amazing unit.
Is POP a new frequency?
Who is using it?
POP isn't a frequency, it's a method. It's Ka, but zapped quickly. The problem? The makers of the guns don't recommend it, but the cops are using it. And writing tickets with it.
Traffic laws are nothing more then revenue enhancers in this country... some are good, but the entire process has been corrupted by small town cops with $$$ in their eyes.

I do not know much about the "POP". What I would like to know is why the makers ogf the guns don't recommend it? Also, are all states using this "POP" method?

It's a gimmick to attract the LEOs. The "Pop" method is to shoot an extremely short burst of microwave energy that's essentially too short to be received by your radar detector. It's also too short to give accurate readings, thus the manufacturers cover their collective butts by recommending against it's use. 'Course, this never stopped the Revenue Enhancement Officers. Check the V1 site for more info on this dubious "feature".
