Default C5 convertible install pictures

This thread repeats some of the other 'C5 convertible sub' thread that's going, but what the hell.....

Completely stripped the interior out in in 1/2 day.

Took out the gauges cluster to add aluminum bezels.

Fatmat & Frost King the whole interior - took several hours.

Power and ground run to the battery, up through the grommet in the firewall.

JL 6.5CXI mounted on vrumvrum's adapter plate, filters mounted inside the door (I know this is a no-no, but they fit so good there).

2 layers of Dynamat and frostking in the center well for the built in sub.

to be continued...

JL Audio 10W6V2

Who needs a box with the built in center well? Will cut out the stock cover so it will be totally stealth.

Kenwood 828 on vrumvrum plate

JL 500/5 amp with cap mounted on the rear deck where the top goes down. You can see the placement of the filter for the 5.25" JL coaxials.
Still need to hide it from view - thinking of coveringg most of it with the same color carpeting.

Aluminum bezels from Vette Essentials. Went in pretty easy with another pair of hands to help apply the super glue.

Night shot of the MP3 head unit.

New Chromies! Got them on the exchange program with West Coast Corvette. Great deal!

Just want to make sure you're paying attention!

2 hours! I think it took me 2 hours to fish the alllen wrench from underneath the battery tray that I dropped while installing the inline fuse.

On the bright side, it sounds really, really sweet, even when crusing with the top down.

The JL Audio components work extremely well together. The 500/5 amp puts out plenty of clean power in an all in one package- if I had any more, I'd be deaf in a week. Plus it has built in integrated filters for all 3 channels and independent input signal adjustment.

The front mid ranges and tweeters are crisp, clear, tight. The sub hits hard and has a great realistic sound for all types of music.

The Kenwood deck allows programming of speaker position, cabin size, and has DSP filtering for all 3 channels- front, rear, and sub. It allows direct control of the sub power level, which is essential for top up/top down listening. To top it off, it reads MP3 and WMA files, and the G-Force accelerometer which is really fun to play with. I knew MP3's were convenient, but putting 12 albums on 1 CD is just amazing, especially after trying to juggle individual CD's with a manual trans.

The soundproofing took a lot of time, but it made a huge difference in cutting down road noise (top up) - and there's no vibration or ratling, either.

The chromies and bezels defnitely enhance the listening experience....
