no sound from '91 bose

Hi,

The head unit looks like it is functioning but I am getting almost no sound out of all speakers. If I turn the volume all the way up you can hear it play but at a very low level.

I first thought the amps got fried but I got a portable cd player and and connected it to one of the speakers - it worked!

Looking at a diagram on www.corvetteradios.com, there is a receiver box between the head unit and speakers. What does the receiver box do and where is it? There is also a speaker relay that I tried to check but had a hard time getting to it under the instrument panel - got to take the driver's seat out this weekend.

Anything more to check?

Did you go through the Amp with the portable player? from the way you are describing it, i sounds like tha capacitors on the amps are bad..

Yes, I went through the amp. The first thing I check was if the speaker had voltage - it did. I will try another speaker as well.

the receiver module is what feeds information to the amps. I find it odd that all 4 channels die at the same time.
