1. Should I replace the head unit?? (If so what do I gain)
you'll gain sound quality, ease of installation and system simplification.

if you replace the h/u then this will be a pretty simple addition later down the road. you can get something as conservative as a bazooka tube or something a llittle nicer like a small amp, 10" sub and a subthump box that'll fit stealth in the rear center compartment

very doable if you want to install it yourself
h/u (alpine, clarion, eclipse) $250
front speakers (cdt) $150
no rear speakers:http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...44&forum_id=20
3/4 chan amp: $250-$350
sub:$130
box:$120 (i think they cost around that)
misc wires: $50
also maybe think about a vrumvrum mounting plate to finish off the h/u nicely and maybe some sound deadener in the doors.
i'd do everything at the same time since the car will be torn apart anyways.
