I havent done this in a while so most of the names and products are not familiar. I was looking at a HIFONICS BX1205D are they any good? I am going to run either 1 or 2 of some GOOD 10s.
Also how do you change the ohm load? Most of the decent amps I see are 1 ohm stable but I dont know how to wire it that way.
I have 2 memphis 12 I would love to run but they just wont fit in my 86.
I have not used Hifonics in years so can not say much about them. A friend of mine (his car is on the cover of this month's Car Audio magazine) uses them and is very happy with them.
You change the impedance (ohm load) with your speakers. The way you wire the speakers will determine the impedance. What ohm speakers do you have and how many voice coils do they have?
i dont know much about HIFONICS amps but as far as changing the impedance (ohm load) you have to do that on the speakers side.
if you have two 4 ohm subs and you wire both + leads to the + terminal and vise versa with the - leads you'll get a 2 ohm impedance.
if you have 2 dvc 4ohm subs and you wire all the + leads together then you have 1 ohm. keep in mind that most amps that are stable at 1 ohm, are only stable at 1 ohm stereo not bridged (unless it's a mono amp)
Thanks guys, The memphis 12s are dual voice coil but I have to pull them out of the box to know the ohm rating. I cant use those because they wont fit in the storage area, and I cant put them in a regular hatch type box because my nitrous is there, and it also just wouldnt look good. The amp Im getting will be a mono amp 1 ohm stable. What kind/brand 10s would you suggest? with 1000-1500 watt rms amp. I want it to slam. All these kids with there blown, distorted, over volumed, rattle trap pulling up next to me drowning out my good music is getting on my nerves.

It figures I read that right after I just bought one. I bought The Hifonics BX1500D 1500 w/rms. I talked with subthump and Im getting the dual 10 box from them.
You see the amp Im using and the box has .7cft per speaker with a 6" mounting depth. What 10s should I get to put in there. I can always run less power on the amp or go 1-2or 4 ohm if I have to. Thanks
PS. subthump quit making the single 10 box for the C4. Thats why I went dual 10.

I thought of that also but they are 6.9" mounting depth and I only get 6" to work with 10w3v2 are only 5.75" but I dont know if there are other brands that are better.
unfortunatly no. It is a box made for 10s to go in the storage areas. 6" isnt really that bad but if I want a real high end sub its to thin. Unless someone can tell me a better brand Im leaning towards the JL 10w3.
I have not owned or even heard a Hifonics amp, but they have the largest sub amp out there. It is rated at 10K watts rms and costs 10 Gs.
I also like JL Audio
