Anyone know which is the positive wire on the 6 1/2" hatch speakers and the 3 1/2" door speakers in a 2000 C5 coupe? In the hatch, one side is yellow and brown and the other side is light blue and dark blue. I can remember when positive was red and negative was black!!!
Brown is positive and dark blue is positive. For Gm it is esy to remember...darks in the rear lights in the front. Just for future reference you can use a battery to test the speaker. I use a 9v or the battery off of my cordless drill. Connect a set of speaker leads to the speaker. Then tap the speaker leads to the positive and the negative on the battery. If the speaker moves outward....away from the basket....it is in phase. If it is in phase look at the wires you connected to the battery. The wire that is on the positive terminal is your positive wire. If the speaker moves inward...towards the basket...the speaker is out of phase. You can then reverse the wires and it will now be in phase.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! That's a great tip for checking the polarity!!!!!!!!!

Damn, I was hoping I could answer that one. With standard GMs it's lights in front darks in rears with the drivers tan and grey wires being the most confusing. The tan is the positive although they are both pretty light.
