Default I'm very confused.... Help please !

Yes, I did a search and read all the threads on front Bose speakers...
All the info is so technical, that I am now totally lost....

Would someone please straighten me out on this?

On my 99 C-5, each front door has two speakers in them.... a small one and a big one. My big one in one door got destroyed .(A fit of temper when it started to buzz) So, ONLY a Bose speaker can replace the big one? The dealers want to sell me the entire assembly. Do I have any options other than E-bay? I went to junkyards, but they say they don't retain the small stuff like speakers.
Do any other makes of car have Bose speakers, so maybe I can just buy the speaker alone?

Please don't get technical ! Thanks !

It's hard to believe that they would want to sell you the entire setup when you only need a speaker... A lot of people have replaced the stok stuff and have them laying around. Maybe somene will reply and sell you one. Go to the C5 parts forum and post that you want to buy one. And yes, only a bose can replace it without replacing the head unit (radio). Good luck .

DOH!
Mid America Motorsports has a replacement woofer for $129, item 618-643
Those Bose emblems on the grills can rattle, I understand your frustration. I replace the whole works.
Good Luck

Yes. Only a Bose speaker designed for the C5 will work in that panel layout. (That's the simple answer.)

If you do not want to replace the stock Bose system with an aftermarket system, get up with Gene at Gene's Karshop... he can take care of you. ( http://www.geneskarshop.com/ Look at the bottom left hand column for supporting vendors.) He is a great guy to deal with and has great prices.

If he doesn't have any, then look in the "parts for sale" area... there are always sets of Bose speakers up for sale... and sometimes even singles if you get lucky.

Knewblewkorvette is correct, you can get the replacement drivers from Mid America... but I'd try Gene before anyone else. Hope this helps.
