best system for around $2000
I did some research and am totally confused. As far as subwoofers for the system would like something that can be hidden in the centre compartment of my 99 c5.
Also can the amps fit under and behind the passenger seat?

Here is what i put into my coupe.
Alpine CDA 9833
Alpine KCA 420I (Apple Ipod interface)
JL Audio 450/4 Amp
JL Audio XR 653 cs 3Way componensts in the doors.
JL Audio 10W3V2-d2 10" dual 2ohm voice coil sub
Subthump stealth box.
All of this was about $2000. I also sound proffed the whole car, about $350. I purchased the head unit and speaker mounts from forum member VrumVrum, he makes them on his CNC machine.
I installed everything my self with some help from a couple of forum members. It took about a week of evenings to do all of the sound proofing and a day to install the system.

MBQPWE254 10" WOOFER
he is quoting me around $1400.00 without install
any feedback on this package and also would it be as good as the above recomended package.

the reason I am comparing the alpine/Jl rcomendation to th pioneer/MBQ quote is that the guy's recomending pioneer/MBQ are local wheras the guys quoting alpine/Jl are about a one hour drive away and I plan on having the system installed by whomever I purchase the system from.
Also question for siverc54me, how is your subwoofer powered?

The Sub is powered by the JL 450/4, channels 1 and 2 are bridged to give the sub 300W. Channels 3 and 4 feed the fronts. I have no rear speakers.
The Alpine head unit I have is now discontinued. I think the CDA9853 is what replaced it.
This Sunday at the Anaheim Hooters there is a gathering of Corvette Froum members. Check out the posting in the Pacific section. You may want to come on by and meet many members and listen to what they have done in their cars.
