A local stereo shop tells me they can install an interface behind the Nav system in my 2005 C6; add a single remote DVD player which will allow me to play home made CDR's, DVD's with MP3's and DVD movies on the NAV screen. The MP3 files would be displayed on the video screen. The guy agreed the video resolution for DVD movies wasn't great but acceptable. Cost? $1300 installed.
Has anybody come up with a better or more cost effective solution?
He also stated that swapping out the stock speakers for MB Quart or similar speaker wouldn't yield much better sound if the stock head unit remained.

Sounds cool. A lot of money though.... I just picked up my system today and will be installing it over the next couple days. Using a Kicker 700.5 (5 channel amp with remote bass control), an Audio Control LC6 digital line output convertor (a must for quality sound from your stock head unit), MB quart for the front and rear, a SoloBaric 8" L7 and a custom sub enclosure that will fit mostly in the driver's side cubby hole with the speaker angled toward the hatch. Should pound like crazy. I had the same model 8" in my 4 door Tacoma and it rocked - without the 'hatch' effect.
The audio control LC6 allows you to take your speaker output wires from the car to it and give them clean pre-amp output with crossover and it senses radio output and turns itself on AND gives you a remote turn on for your amp. This way the amp is on when the radio's on.... not when the ignition is on. Many factory radios do not have the remote wire that turns on/off the amp with the unit. It controls up to 4 speakers and 2 subs. I can't wait to hear it!
Please reply back with how the MB quart speakers sound. My local audio store told me the MB Quarts would not sound good with the stock head unit. I'm thinking of replacing the stock head unit but i do not want to lose the HUD navigation display (helps alot when driving fast with navigation).
