I have a 93 with the upgraded Bose sound package. As much as it pains me to consider changing the head unit (I enjoy the uniformity of the factory setup), I would like to get some on-board iPod controls going, either via the Alpine iPod management adapter or a similar product from another brand. I would also like mp3 functionality. I'm not looking to go berserk here - $300 is the upper limit I would be willing to spend (including installation). Any more than that and it's not worth it to me at this time.
If you're really concerned with keeping original components, there is an adapter you can get for your iPod which allows it to broadcast on the FM radio frequencies. I can't speak for quality of the device however.
I have the iTrip FM modulator, but frankly it sucks for cars with rear-mounted antennae. There are powered FM modulators, but that kind sucks in terms of aesthetics... might as well just use the cassette adapter.
I'm not so much worried about keeping things stock as I am keeping things looking nice in the interior. Dropping a neon lighted high tech stereo (as just about all are today) into the 93 would just look out of place I think. Maybe some folks have photos of their setups so I could see what it looks like? I could be wrong.
Well I have a very classy looking Rockford Fosgate head unit that plays MP3s, but I don't think it would look as nice in the newer C4 interiors as it does in my old interior
I was hoping you wouldnt ask that actually :p
it's stickers that the previous owner put on. I have more important things to spend my money on right now so I'm stuck with the faux carbon fiber.
