What speaker will give me the best quality that I can just switch in and use the factory wire for the fronts. I don't care about loudness just want something a little clearer. I'm going to attempt the blue led mod for the doors and figured I might as well swap speakers. Thanks for any suggestions. Bill

you do not need any adapters or anything else to swap out the front 3.5's in the door, only the subs are driven by the BSP (BOSE signal processor). same with the rears, plug and play. i don't know how much of an improvement you'll see by doing just that (i replaced HU also) but you'll definitely get better highs and probably a bit better lows than those stock units.
the bose system makes that type of swap impossible.
You would need to get adaptors then get an aftermarket amp.
Have you tried???
In a C5 the front 3.5" twiddlers take about 2 minutes each to change out once the door panel is removed. Two screws, two spade plugs, and you're done
Any 2-way speaker with a RMS rating under 40w would be an improvement over the stock paper speakers. I went with Clarion SRC924's in the front, the current version of them is the SRC925's. You will actually be able to hear the highs, but the lows aren't affected much, probably due to the bass signal not even being present at the twiddlers in a C5.
Is this the same speaker setup in a Z06?? I think i blew the twiddler in the front door. I was gonna get some MB quart 3.5" speakers. will that work? Also, what size are the rear speakers?

absolutely...actually i think the Z doesn't have Bose, does it? regardless, if it does, it's the same set up as the rest. if it doesn't, you have even less to worry about.

i couldn't tell you that exactly, but, i'm about to remove my fronts to replace with my kappas so i'll take a depth measurement and let you know. i can't imagine any 3.5 being super deep though so i would guess you'd be safe. i'll also try to see if i can figure out what kind of clearance you have on the front side of the speaker (towards grille). i think that would be the only place of concern (some tweets stick out quite a bit).
if someone else has stock 3.5" laying around, jump in with the depth info. and of course, if you've installed these MBQ's already, let us know and save me the work.

I stand corrected. I though the bose was like all the other conventional bose systems... with amps and such for each.
Just finished installing my infinity 3.5 in the driver door. The door panel was a lot harder to pry off than I thought it would be. The bezel didnt wan't to come off. Then I really had to pull hard on the door I thought I was going to break something. The swap was easy and I can tell a difference between the two sides. Not a huge difference, but definitely there is. Cant wait to do the other side tomorrow. For 40 dollars it is so worth it.
