I had a 12 disc changer from a 1998 vette. I just installed it today and WEDGED it in the small passanger side compartment in the trunk with foam. It is very tight.
It plays great but when I hey a bump or even a those little round reflectors that are on the road the darn thing skips!
This is an older player.
Is this normal?
Is this due to me not mounting it with the brackets?
Is the CD Player/Changer BAD?
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have another guys tht aI was going to buy, but this one worked so I was going to skip it. Maybe I should buy his which is from a 2001 (Same year as my Car)
no, the skipping is not normal. My car came with the stock 12 disc changer and it NEVER skipped.
Do you have it mounted the correct way? To the best of my knowledge, it can only be installed vertically. The year should not be a factor, I believe they are all the same. The unit may also need to be cleaned and have the laser alligned. Good luck
This is not normal. I also had the stock CD changer, and it never skipped. I've since replaced the stock CD changer with a newer one (because I changed out the HU). My new CD changer has a dial on the side, that you rotate with a screwdriver, to indicate the angle of rotation that the unit is mounted at. Not really sure what this rotation dial does (mechanically). My new CD changer has never skipped either.
I'm 90% sure the stock 12 cd changer (even though it is a Pioneer) does not have a option on mounting angles. And the unit will not work with any aftermarket head-unit, not even a Pioneer
