I own a 2000 C5. I already have the 10" JLAudio stealth sub enclosure. I want to upgrade to the 10W7 or if I have to the JLAudio 10W6V2. I have read in the past some forum members designed and built the proper sized enclosure and put it in the same location as the stealth box. Can anyone give me some information on this and photos? Thanks Guys!
The stealth enclosure is made by JLAudio for the C5 Corvette. It fits inside the rear compartment in the floor in the hatch area, taking up no space so you can still use the rear hatch area for storage, hatch, etc. The 10W7 is a larger, newer sub and thus needs a larger enclosure. The 10W6v2 is a 10" JL sub that is larger also. Larger meaning the sub needs to be put in an enclosure with more volume (interior space) to work properly. I want to upgrade to one of these. The box will have to sit up out of the compartment. I saw a thread on here in the past where the member designed a nice box. I am looking for design ideas or examples I can use, but still keep the space in the hatch area.
The first thing that comes to my mind is why do you want to upgrade the JL enclosure? To do what you are asking will require a total different set-up. Forum member VrumVrum or subthump can build you a box that will fit the center storage area for a W7. You will probably also need a new amp for the W7. To get it's full potential the sub will want about 500 watts rms.
On the bright side, the JL stealth enclosure should be an easy sell on the "for sale" on the Forum. Good luck
QUALITY AND POWER! I am upgrading the entire system. I want a better sub. I should be able to sell the stealth box easily, it is basically new and in excellent condition.
