I got a sub from a friend. It's a 10" Alpine SWS-1041D it's a dual coil and has 4 terminals on the back two positive and two negative. How would I go about wiring it. I have a 4ch amp and ch 3-4 are bridged for a sub.
what model amp is it? it may not be stable at 2 ohms so we'll have to figure that out first.
you could connect one of the neg terminals to the other pos terminal to get 8 ohms (then hook up the two remaining terminals to the amp)
but you should probably just hook up one voice coil to chan 3 and the other to chan 4.
if your amp is able to drive a bridged chan at 2 ohms then connect the pos terminals of the voice coils to the pos terminal of the amp and likewise for the neg terminals

actually you can wire it in series and bridge the channels, or wire each voice coil to each channel. either way you'll be getting about 150 watts to that sub
you're welcome, i'm not really qualified to advise you on that, i still have trouble with it myself. I ended up lucking out with my install becuase i purchased a linedriver from audiocontrol which also was a crossover which ended up sounding amazing at the default levels in my car.
