Friend of mine had a 1990 that the CD Player got so hot it wouldn't play after a while maybe an hour & a half of playing........Anyone have this problem?
Is the CD player an aftermarket deck? If so, that could be the reason why they run hot. Decks nowadays are built to have more output than stock decks. Heat has to go somewhere. Often time, the heatsink on the internal amp itself is small.
yes..bad thing is....heat kills electronics
Luckily, your's shuts down before the HU fries. Two of the radios I have have no speaker outputs, another does and I don't use them, and the 4th which I do use all the speaker outputs get HOT but has never shut down. I look at putting a fan in there but no room.
If your's is getting overheat protection, you might want to look at somehow getting air to your HU
