I have XM in the Vette and Sirus (through DISH) at home. Although there isn't a huge difference, I find that I like XM music programming better. I haven't really used either for sports - so I can't say which is better there. The XM comedy channel rocks!
i just ordered xm sytem, should have it early next week. i choose xm after reading here and xm forum and sirrius forum. it seems xm will have less drops and it also seems to have better programing for my taste. i won't know for a few weeks after i get into it
I have XM. The music/comedy/news mix is great. XM also has Major League Baseball.
If you have a sport you prefer...it could swing you to one or the other.
Sirius
its going to be all about Howard Stern come January.
Plus Sirius has all the sports that start with an N: NFL, NBA, NHL (if that ever starts up again) and I think soon it will also have NASCAR.
it's been a week now since i have had xm. i like it except for the classical music good sound, good reception and good programming. took me awhile to figure out where i wanted the mini ant. i finally put in the back of my 93, it sits right below the glass on the plastic trim and the magnet holds tight when i put it on top of one of the screws and is not visible from the outside. reception is great.
i have nascar on mine....
I have both---sirius has more rock stations, i can always find something i remember or know there,,,xm comedy is great too...if you like rock, sirius is great

I have had my XM for about 3 years now. I have never listened to Sirrius but one thing is for sure, you will not be able to cut FM after listening to satellite radio.
I've had both and it is hard to compare. They basically are the same depending on the type programming you like. For comedy, I think XM is better since it has more comedy stations and less repeats. For music, they are probably equal. I switched to XM because it had the NASCAR coverage. It also has ACC football and PAC-10 football in season. However, I don't think you can go wrong either way. As someone has said before, once you go to satellite radio, it's very hard to go back to the conventional radio. Another reason I switched to XM was the number of people using it vs. the number of people using Sirius. It was significant as was their prospective stock prices. I thought XM would buy Sirius at one point.
If you're just looking for an alternative to FM check with people in your local area who have the services and ask how the reception is. We live in a populated area so I went with XM because they have a number of terrestrial repeaters here and the coverage is rock solid. Sirius service is spottier.
Banc of America Securities said a satellite radio hardware pricing war could intensify in the third quarter. Banc of America said channel checks indicate that XM Satellite Radio Holdings could start selling the Roady2 in retail for $49.99 with no rebate, beginning over the next month. For XM, the research firm sees a neutral outlook. "Entering into 2005, we expected XM to use its cost advantage to be more aggressive on product pricing," Banc of America said. But the firm sees pressure on either cost or average revenue per user on Sirius Satellite Radio, and the XM promotion is a "negative." The firm said, "We are unsure as to what Sirius' reaction will be, but we are certain they will offer a competitive response." The XM promotion probably indicates that Sirius has gained retail share in the second quarter, but that doesn't mean that XM had a week quarter, Banc of America said. Although both satellite radio companies should show strong subscriber growth in the second half of 2005, the firm said XM is better positioned for 2006. In fact, Banc of America ranks Sirius in its two least favorites in radio and TV broadcasting, along with Citadel Broadcasting; both are rated at "neutral" with respective price targets of $5.50 and $14. The firm's two top picks are Univision Communications and Radio One, both rated at "buy" with respective target prices of $33 and $17.

XM reminds me of what FM used to be... Now FM is what AM used to be.
As far as baseball goes, I tuned into the XM brodacast of a Mariners game. It was the same announcers and broadcast as the local radio. The quality sounded like somebody just set a microphone up to a radio though.
