C5 head unit mounting depth...advice??
I just caught a deal on a Pioneer DEH-P90HDD from a fellow forum member, and it came installed in a mounting kit. The kit is plastic with an radiused-corner extension of maybe 1/2" or more with a pocket under the din opening. I hate the look of aftermarket stereos sticking way out of the dash, so I'm prolly gonna get vrumvrum's mounting plate to help make it more flush mount.
My question is....how much mounting depth (in inches) do I have behind the mounting plate?? I would like to recess the hu a bit behind the plate, since the trim ring of the unit is near 1 inch thick on it's own, so that it is more flush with the mounting plate. I am assuming the vrumvrum plate will help. How hard is it to make additional mounting depth (if I need to)?
I probably should have gotten an Alpine if I wanted it flush, but I got a great deal on this hu!
So...help me out guys....I'm sure you understand what I'm trying to do here.....how do I make this beeotch look a little more factory and a little less ghetto?
