My ex works for Apple and had successfully wired his iPod into his Sony head unit a couple years ago (whenever iPods came out). I called him yesterday to verify exactly how it was done. I pulled my head unit out and hooked up the cables just like he told me to do. With no luck...
Do I really need to spend $100 to get the Sony Proprietary Source selector? The FM modulator thingy will not work in the car ('96 Mustang) because of the locations of the lighter plugs.
There several different FM modulation options available. You might want to search out those. But if you want direct audio and possibly control over the Ipod through the head unit you will need the cable. I am not familuar with Sony's pod adaptor but I know others on the market allow the Ipod display to be viewed on the radio face and the radio's buttons to control the Ipod.
