C6 Audio, I am scared!
I am busy ordering a 2006 C6 here.....
I am trying to figure out exactly how the stock audio on the C6 is wired..... so I can hopefully upgrade it! I am really scared of the Bose "upgraded" stereo so I am skipping that upgrade package completely...
The stock head unit looks like a standard double din head unit, someone correct me if I am wrong, but this should be pretty easy to replace with an aftermarket unit?
I am also guessing that the stock head unit doesn't tie into any of the cars other features or electronics?
My next question is as follows: it seems like the stock audio system still has 7 speakers? are they all powered by the stock head unit or is there some amp thrown in the mix somewhere here? (please dont let there be an amp)
what are these 7 speakers? and where are they in the car?
The system I just pulled out of my last ride was very high end, and I would love to get pieces or most of it into the C6 without too much work, just for a basic sound setup (the system was a complete high end alpine / focal utopia system)
But I would remove all the bose and go pure aftermarket anyway... just don't buy any optional equipment, so dash replacement is easier.
Also, leofuse(sp?) has found an install kit that looks GREAT.
I am sure there are amps in the system... but I would gut the hell out of the Delco/bose and build up from there.
I am just hoping to change out the stock system with as little work as possible. I am actually hoping to use the stock copper cabling, so the car doesnt have to be pulled apart to run new wiring
