Z06 audio options... what are they? i do not want to tear into the car too much, but i dont think the stock bose system will provide me with what i need. i would like to meet or slightly exceed the audio performance of my camaro z28. nothing major, but i had a nice alpine deck, polk mids and tweets with an alpine amp, and a 10 inch JL w3 in a stealth box with another alpine amp. it wasnt the loudest or hardest hitting, but it was very clean and the sound quality was superb.
im gonna put another alpine deck in, mostly because i need something that plays mp3's and i love alpine sound, but what i need to know is where do you guys mount your amps? im probably gonna have to replace the bose speakers too because they dont like to work well with other amps. also, what kind of subs have you guys used, and what type of boxes work best? im thinking along the lines of one 10 or 12, for the trunk.
oh, btw, i dont have the car yet, im just preparing ahead of time, i get it this week, in about 3 days.
JL Audio Makes a Stealthbox SB-GM-VET/10W3 that will fit right in the rear cargo well. It comes with a 10" sub just add any amp and you will be set to go
Its just a standard JL Box, you can get them like that at most stereo shops. I dont have it bolted down either and it sits in there perfect, doesnt move around.
Here's mine. It ain't pretty, but it does the job. It's not a show car, so I didn't want to add any extra weight, keeping it to the bare essentials. The head unit is an Alpine MP3, with MB Quart up front, no rear speakers.
If you have the sub placed like in your picture and you have a trunk partion will it sound any good ?
I dont want to scrap my trunk partion since it may save my life someday ...

The partition shouldn't affect low frequencies significantly. Owners of sedans put their subs in the trunk and the sound has to go through the rear seats. It's not a problem.
Exactly what i thought myself but when i was at my car stereo shop they told me that it wouldnt sound good, and i thought it wasent logic based on what you say.

This stuff was only used for about 6 months. it added that missing bass to the system.
I've got some pics of the box I had built. (Hard to see, but check my pics) I've got 2 JL Audio 10" with 2 Alpine amps mounted in the center of the box. Setting it up this way saved my trunk, and the woofers reflect off the window for some excellent sound. Alpine deck with 2 6" in the doors. Sounds so clean & was worth the $$$.
Sorry Ace, but I'm not sure on that. I dont have the trunk partition in my car. If you're worried about the box flying, you can always drill it in the trunk. I didnt, but the amp and Cap are.
