90 Corvette Bose Stereo problems
I know this has been hashed over before, but can someone please tell me what exactly has caused my Bose to only have one pass. side front speaker that works? first the one on the driver/front went out, then the back ones started to make crackling noises, and now they don't work and only the one lonely front/pass side works. It's a good thing that I have a "tin ear" and not one to be too fussy about sound but it would be nice to have them all work like they should. Something about the speaker transformers? or what if i recall. Can someone tell me exactly what happens to these supposedly great BOSE GOLD radios that makes the speakers bum out like that? I recall that there is some radio Dr. that fixes these. Is it necessary to remove all the speakers or is it a "central" fix for all of them? Please email me directly if you would or post an explanation in laymans terms what causes this to happen. Very disappointed with this common problem.........

It sounds like you are having the most common problem which are the speaker amps are going bad. Yes, you have an amp in each separate speaker and they need to be replaced from time to time. You have several choices, but here are the most common fixes. You can send the amps to
Bose

Dr. Dons

FCSR

Even though the Bose site does not have specific repair info, you can call their 1-800 number to get the info you need. I recommend them for one major reason. All three have good reputations and prices, but if you send Bose the entire speaker, they will replace the amp, and everything else including the speaker cone, to factory specs for the same price.
Having said that the other two do a fine job if you only want to send out the amp alone.
Good luck
Is someone aware of a link to help in the removal of the rear speakers in my '90? Got the one for the fronts but need help accessing the rears. Any help on this is appreciated.............
