Default HOUSTON: Custom Sub Box Builder ?

I have already been by Custom Car Stereo (59 near fondren) and CJ Sounds. CJ is under new management and Custom Car Stereo seems to be focusing more on bling bling dub rims.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a shop that can build a solid box for a 10w7 and an amp rack to hold a 500/1 and 300/2?

Offhand, the main tech at the Tweeter on 45 and Bay Area is supposed to be good. He was taught by a guy that I know is good and supposedly this kid is getting better than (Lee) the person who taught him.

I also talked to an installer over at Car Toys at 45 and El Dorado. Saw some pics and they looked good. I'm about to attempt to build something myself that should prove interesting since it will be my first attempt at fiberglass where I will use a 2 sub design with an integrated amp rack. Keep your eyes peeled for it.

Cool man I would love to see some progress pictures once you get started. I did a fiberglass box in my last vette with a false wall for the amp behind it. The box was pretty simple though, glass bottome, MDF top, stealth style box. I want something a little more trick but not quite competition this time. I don't live in a house anymore but I have a garage in my apartment complex so I can do some mods in there but I am not sure if I am up to doing a full blown box without a table saw and a bit more space.

If you decide to build one yourself, I have a table saw if you want to come down to Kemah. I'm gonna attempt mine but have never built anything like it so I'm always open to learning new stuff.

Try American Audio Concepts in bellair. I got my amp there and they had some HI end stuff in there. Ask for Kevin and tell him Albert with the red corvette sent you he will take care of you.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try the guys on belaire first since they are closer.

Here are some shots of my last setup. I am no wiz with the fiberglass but I managed to make the box bottom and glass it to the mdf. The doors have 8" subs powered by one of the 4 channels of the amp and the sup was powered by a bridged channel of the same amp. I ran the mids/hi's off the head unit with a bass blocker.

Give Phil a call at Houston Car Stereo on hilcroft and westpark, tell him Marc Johnson sent you and he'll look out for you. They do excellent work, just installed avh-p7500dvd, jl audio components and 4 8w3v2 in my F150. 300/2 and 500/1 and it sounds excellent! They have worked on plenty of c5's so don't worry.
