Default Help with ipod peripheral adapter

I have a 2002 z06 with the factory stereo. I am trying to hookup a peripheral ipod adapter and I need to get at the back of the radio. I have
1. popped off the small cover next to the ignition and removed the hex screw
2. removed the ashtray and removed two hex screws there (one behind, one just under the cover)
3. popped off the ride control panel and unscrewed two nuts there
4. removed the center console lid

I can pry off part of the large molding surrounding the stereo but I can't move it enough to get at the back of the stereo, it seems to be caught on/near the shifter. Any ideas? Help!!

If memory serves me correctly, you have to remove the center console because there are two screws between the shifter and the console lid. Keep going, your almost there.

Lid can stay on. Lift the semi circle panel between the radio surround and center counsel. There are two 10mm nuts there, then in the back of the center counsel is two little plastic covers...pull those up...there are two more 10mm nuts....remove all four. Now the center counsel will slide backwards. You should be good to go from there.

Yo Magneto10,

I just updated your post in the Z06 forum with additional pics :

Mind if I ask you why you are trying to get to the rear of the factory head unit for your iPod adapter install?

I believe I'm using the same adapter and I did NOT have to go anywhere near the rear of the factory head unit

It's all plug-n-play if you use the CD-changer harness (COR-HAR). Plenty of room to hide the excess bundle of cables in the upper part of the passenger footwell area

You simply make your connection into the Aux port which is available in the passenger footwell area (two port plugs; see pics in the other thread)...this is where the factory 12-disk CD-changer is connected to.
