cdt classic series cl- 641 are about 400 and handle 200 watts rms
jl audio 3 ways are around the same price but handlwe less power
so the jls fit what you're looking for
i have the cdts and thet sound great cant speak for the jls though
I've been looking at the JL's and the cheapest I've found is $320. If they were about a 100 cheaper I'd be all over them.
you can't afford an extra $20 for some great speakers.
You are driving a car with a $50,000 dollar sticker price. I'm sure you are paying some serious $ for tags and insurance too. I read your replies in this forum many times and agree with most, yet this post has me

It's not for my vette, it's for my DD. I really don't want to spend over $250 for front stage if I can help it. I was hoping to get a 3-way but all the one's I could find are really expensive, so I figured I'd see if anyone knew of a cheaper alternative to the JL's. So it'll probably be either 2-way's or spending the extra cash on the JL's... Knowing me, I'll just break down and buy the JL's, I just won't be happy doing it
the vette is easy, that's getting Adire Koda comps for the front
they do make a q-form kick panel for that truck. You can fit a 5.25" and tweeter in there and get your best imagining possible. You can get them for less than $150. No hacking into you doors then. You can also run the orignal 4" at a lower volume for added stage height. A pair of good 5.25" componets can be had for $150.
Just an opitional idea for ya
I was gonna get the kickpanels, that's why I was thinking 3 ways, and use the 4" mid in the stock location. I never thought of a 2-way then using the full range 4" off the HU. Sounds like a plan to me
but I don't think you will need the 4" speakers anymore.
They are going to stomp all over the output of those drivers.
Good 3-ways have crossovers to control things like that.
I have 3-ways in my 92 vette... 6" mid bass in the kicks (so to speak), 4" mids in the doors and 1" tweets in the doors... and yes, it's seriously custom!!! True 3-ways are the only way to fly!
Yea, I'm not gonna bother with the 4". Probably just go with the diamond audio's I listed above unless someone tells me they're crap and not to get them...
