Yesterday I had my sound system upgraded on my 95. Basically had new component fronts, Subs, and amps installed. Never had amps and subs in a car so this is all new to me.
Anyways, today I noticed that if I crank the system, like really crank it (28-30 of 40) I get a slight flicker on my speedometer when the subs hit hard. Now when i say flicker its more like a slight dimming as the subs hit.. Actually hard to notice unless I stare at it.
Is this normal or do I have a potential issue? I usually dont cruise it around that loud. 20 or 22 seems to be enough to shake my bones But I was curious.
And if anyone is interested here is my new setup, with mucho thanks to Bogus for brand advice and so much more.

Sounds like you are taxing the charging system. You may want to consider an upgraded alternator of just accepting the power drain and glitches since you will not be pounding all of the time. Nice choice in components!!

Your stereo is causing the light dimming by drawing lots of amps which in turn is causing the voltage to go low. Do a search "the big 3". It is the best and cheapest place to start.

the best thing to do is change the chassis ground as i believe it looked to be only a 10 or 12 gauge wire when i did mine. I would also look into a yellow top as they wont be damaged if you accidently discharge it.
Thanks for all the tips guys. For now I am going to keep the volume at a semi reasonable level... The point at which I saw the dimming the sub thump was so strong I could feel it in my hair and the seats. Reasonable level I just feel it in the seats
I have noted down all the suggestions here and will start with the Chassis ground as soon as I can. Start with the easiest/cheapest solution and work my way up. About to take a beating from my wife with all the recent upgrades so gotta watch the spending.
You all are great! I learn alot from the forums here.
