Default XM and Happy!

When I bought my C6 last January I did not bother getting XM as I work out of the house and am not in the car much. However my wife has XM in her car and I finally realized I made a mistake--sort of. I say sort of as I ended up saving a ton of money and now have XM. For those wanting XM in their ride there is an awesome way to add it now. They are selling the Roady2 for $49.95. It's a great unit, small and has 30 presets. And the antenna is also very small. Instead of placing it on the roof of my Vette I have it flat on the dashboard near the Windshield and it works great. As my wife already was a subscriber, I got mine added at a reduced monthly rate for the service. And if you don't want to mess around with a complicated install you can just plug it into the accessory plug in the center console. I have the unit mounted just in front of the console on the tiltable mount they provide. It transmits wirelessly to the FM radio on a frequency you select. One of the best things I could have done for this fine ride Here is a link for those interested:

I cancelled by XM option as soon as I saw the ugly wart on top of a C6. Instead, we bought a Roady II back in October when we took NCM delivery. Great little unit.

I still wish it was built into the audio unit, but not bad enough to have to put up with the wart...

After having the XM in our Cadillac STS, I decided to get it for the Corvette. I bought the Delphi MyFi. I really like it because it also works well in the house and It will work in a rental car. I travel quite frequently. I live in Houston and am not too crazy about the performance of the FM modulator. It is too hard to find a clean FM frequency here. I have the PIE converter and used it with my mp3 player. After changing the battery it is mal-functioning and I use the MyFi FM modulator. I plan to get the PIE converter fixed to improive the audio quality in the Corvette. Many of the places I travel should have a clean FM frequency; so, it should work well in most rental cars.
The MyFi also came with a magnetic mount antenna. I placed it on a metal brace under the rear quarter panel on the passenger side. It isn't optimum, but it is acceptable.

Great price. Wal*Mart is now selling the Roady2 for $29.00. I've had several of the Roady2s. They sound great and basic installation is effortless. Sound using the internal wireless FM modulator is great. Delphi has just released a newer version, called the Roady XT. Wal*Mart is selling it for $79.00. It's a much nicer, classier looking unit, that's smaller and slimmer than the Roady2. Most people want a fully integrated system. Most newer GM radios can be adapted with an "add on" kit. Check www.radiosandmore.com . I installed their XM Direct kit on my wife's Cadillac CTS (aftermarket factory NAV) and it plays like factory with full integration and display with the NAV unit and the radio controls. Many satellite radio options available now, from factory style to simple add-on. Many more options available for XM than Sirius.

we activated it & even w/ the antenna inside the car it works incredibly well. i saw that a replacement antenna costs $29.99 @ cc, bb, or other stores---------hence i'm going to go on ebay & just get a 2nd xm roady2 for the same $5 to $6 or so then i'll have a 2nd antenna, power cord, & mounting kit for the other car so i can just move the actual roady2 unit between the vette & the honda w/out disturbing the hidden antenna cable, etc. not sure if i want to bother w/ the vent mounting gig; they warn you to be gentle putting that on---with my luck i could see busting the vent louvers in either car. bub
update: bought the 2nd roady2 for $4.99.

I love XM, but hate the fact that I have to pay multiple subscriber fees if I want it in all my cars. I have a Vette, my wife has an Envoy, and we have an old 3 series as a daily driver. Currently pay for 2 of the three.

I also wish I could hook it up to my home stereo; kinda wish I had gotten the one in which you could remove it and bring it inside.

Check into the XM family plan. The first radio is $12.95 per month and the next four on the same account are $6.99 per month. It helps a little, but five paid quarterly is about $120 (ouch!). I had the five, three cars, work and home. Down to four now, with Sirius at work. Most if now all will hook up to a home stereo with the home kit (some included, some sold separate. I'm sure some enterprising people have five radios on one account, and they ain't kin folk.

my turn for a question for those w/ a c5 & the roady2. the mrs put the vent clip mount on the a/c vent above the radio. it seems to be on so well that i'm not sure it'll ever come out. anyone have any tips on getting the vent clip off w/o busting the a/c vent? as gilda said, it's always something....bub
btw, we like the xm gig. good tunes & excellent reception with the antenna inside the car.

Has anyone installed the fm diect adapter in a C4 yet. The wireless mode just doesn't make here in Phoenix. I have the radio out but do not seem to see where the heck the antenna cable is, which is where you tie in the direct adapter.
