Has anyone heard an Infinity Basslink self powered 10" sub in a convertible? I have a C6 and I'm thinking of adding a sub; just wondering if this would be a good choice, as it is small, enclosed and self powered. I'd also probably change the crappy 5 1/4" speakers behind the seat - hopefully upsize them a bit.
I considered one of those for my C5 a while back, but was convinced to get a Bazooka tube instead. An 8" tube would have fit in the center tub of a C5, but I ended up with their 6" 100w tube, the BTA6100. I have the remote volume controller mounted inside the center armrest. When everything else was still stock the 100w tube could easily overpower the rest of the sound if it was turned up too high.
FYI, I don't know about the C6 Bose system, but in the C5 the bass signal is NOT present at the twiddler speakers. If the C6 is the same you'll need to tap into the preamp signal coming out of the HU or use the speaker level signals at the bass speakers in the doors. It's not just as simple as tapping into the rear speaker wires.
You're right, the wiring is a major pain in the ***. I don't want overpowering bass, but just a nice addition to the sound. How do you like your Bazooka tube? Does it give nice, clean bass or too much thump? Would you do it again?
If all you want to do is get a little bass to add to your music, then I would definitely say a Bazooka (or something similar if you choose) is worth it. My original plan was exactly what you mentioned in your first post, but as usual I went farther than planned.
I like the way the tube has the remote volume control, it lets me crank it up for some serious thump, or just leave it at about 30% for a nice addition of bass. However, now that I've figured out how to have the 'equalizers' set on my Neo and HU I rarely adjust it.
All things considered, yes, I'd do the Bazooka again.
I have used both a powered Bazooka and the Infinity Unit (Bazooka in a Miata, Basslink in an Acura TSX).....the Bazooka was a better buy (about 30% less then the Infinity Unit) but the Infinity did a better job of not only louder but firmer/sharper roll off.........either will go a long ways to improve
the low end situation....
