Default How many channels do I need?

I am possibly thinking of doing a 3 way setup in my doors of my C5. I have a 5.25 MB Quart comp set, and I am going to add the 6.5 midbass with crossover as well.

Now for an amp do I need a 2 or a 4 channel amp to run this 3 way set up?

2 Channel would work fine. If you wire the front speakers parallel, just make sure the amp will handle a 2 ohm load.

The JL will handle the 2 ohms, no problem, but you are going to up the output at 2 ohms and will be pushing close to 300 watts per channel. You can turn the gain WAY down, so you don't make yourself deaf. Or, you can wire them up in series and increase the ohms to 8 ohms and be around 75 watts per channel. You can go either way.

Is it not possible to put 150 to each side? Would this config be the same with a 2-way component set?

I think I understand what you are doing. The crossover that comes with the MB Quart 6.5" will make it a 3-way. The impedence will stay at/about 4 ohms if I remember right. So, the Jl amp will be great, 150 watts rms of clean cool power. The JL amps run the same power into 1.5 to 4 ohms.
You'll be happy will the Quarts and the JL amp
