Hi, I bought cdt hd 61 six months ago after extensive research for my c5 coupe rear sections. but now i get a call from the car installer yesterday saying that the space isn't deep enough to fit in these speakers. is he right? cuz i'm not sure i would have overlooked this fact when i was buying these speakers after months of researching and form trolling... like i'm doing now. thx.
Get the dimensions from CDTs website and measure it. The rear speakers are very easily removed. Gently pry off the cover and remove the 5 or 6 bolts holding the speaker on. 7 or 8mm.
I bought some CDT speakers (NOT the HD though) for the rear several months ago. And yes, I was shocked to figure out the hard way that they didn't fit (the LEFT hand speaker at least) in the factory spot. After finding out the left didn't fit, I never tried the right hand side... but after intalling another set of new speakers (JLAudio) back there I came to realize that the right hand speaker would have probably fit. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking that the left hand spot was too shallow because of the gasoline cap location.
Since I bought a different set of speakers I never tried these, but I don't see why they wouldn't work unless the speaker sticks out too far and the grill won't go back on.
