The interior toplight of my 97 Camaro keeps going on and off with no reason I can figure as to why. It happens sometimes when I go over a good sized bump or sometimes just when i mash the brakes. Any ideas as to the nature of this problem...all fuses and correctly functioning and as far as I can tell there is no switch to turn the light off. The light turns on when a door opens as it should and dims after the door is closed/ car is locked.
my guess would be one of the pin switches that are located at the doors and probably the hatch. One of them is loosing it's position during a bump acting then acting if the door/hatch is open, thus the dome light comes on.
Post what you find
Gosh...thats great accuracy as to the nature of the problem...Yes, one of the pins that holds the window locks and door lock lil panel came off and so that panel sticks up (drivers side). That is probably it...I have extra pins for it and just need to resecure that 'panel'. Thanks ...man the people on this board are the most knowledgeable about anything car related.

EDIT : after re-reading your reply I realized that what I described has nothing to do with what you are talking about. However has been historically loose in this vehicle. I will open the trunk and rescrew the rubber tabs on the back of it and try that.
