Mid America has a Pioneer DEH-2600 cd player stereo for about $400. Anyone install one of these? I was pricing rebuilding my Bose to accept CDR but if the Pioneer goes right in I'd rather just save my Bose in the attic. I guess the main question is how does the Pioneer fit, does it work fine with the factory speaker/amps and what about the stereo part under the passenger side of the dash?
If someone has experience with other head units I'd like to hear that too and possibly some pics of the installed unit.
Ditch the bose adapter and by new speakers you wont be disapointed
but $400 for the DEH-2600?? that is expensive. If you like that head unit (I run Pioneer HUs in 3 of 4 vehicles I own) look at other sites for a lower price.
Anyone have pics of an aftermarket head unit in the dash? My only concern is how it will look since the bose is so big and I've seen some ugly installs with adapter plates.
I went with the Pioneer DEH-P77DH, while not a completely correct size it fits without any adapters. It is about 7/16" shorter in height than the oem opening, the witdth is exact. Only drawback is that the detachable face will not come off due to the tight fit with the oem dash bezel.
I changed the bose speakers to Infinity, and added a Pioneer 4 channel amp. It sounds good to my ear, and the total cost was under $500. I shopped on ebay, all new products, no refurbs or used.
