I have a Pioneer Premier TS-SW124D which is a 4ohm sub that can handle 300rms/1200 peak watts. I am having a hard time finding a good amp at a good price. Anyone have this sub, if so what amp are you using?
You can get a JBL BP600.1 (used) off e-bay for less than $150. It is a sub amp only, class D, and is 600 watts rms at 2 ohms but 300 watts rms into 4 ohms, perfect for a 300 watt rms sub. Why you say 400 watts needed is If you have some other reason, get a 1200.1, it will give you 600 watts rms into 4 ohms, but cost you about $260.
I have heard of jbl but always thought it was lower end. I have never seen it at any of the stereo shops I go to. The reason I wanted atleast 400 rms is I like to have a little more power and be able to turn the amp down vs having just enough. Plus with the sub being in a small sealed box you can run some extra power without hurting anything.
