For any of you electronic gurus out there. I was wondering if it would be possible to modify the aftermarket LED tail lights for the C5 into sequential turn/brake lights?
When a turn signal is activated the inside LED tail light would light each vertical row in sequence and end with the outside LED tail light . A smooth flow across each tail light, from the inside light to the outside light. The light would litteraly flow across, in verticle rows, from one taillight to the other for a seemless sequence.
(I hope this makes sense to everyone)
A brake sequence could be used as well. The light would flow from both inside lights to the outside lights.
Would something like this be possible using some sort of (affordable) micro processor?
i think it's possible ifyou were to make your own taillights. the problem you would most likely face with trying to modify an aftermarket light is in the wiring. each row has to be isolated from the other.
i dont think you even need a pic or microprocessor, you probably could set it up using simple resistor/capcitor timing circuit that is trip by the previous row of leds.
Scott....I think you are correct except it would most likely need some kind of microprocessor control. Making the lights flow left to right would not be that big of a deal but then to get all the lights to turn on for brakes and running lamps changes everything. It would be very cool though.
I know they already make such an animal. I've seen the module on e-bay lots of times except today when I went searching for you They also make a module (I have one on my C5) that makes the center brake light flash when the brakes are applied.

I think you are confusing the "sequential" tail light module that flashes the entire brake light at once. Alternating between the inside and outside lights.
What I'm talking about is getting LED lights to light up each individual row of LED's in each tail light. Not the entire light to flash at once.
