Default C5's where to put tweeters?

...Im in the process of tweaking my system, I'm running a tri-amped setup of an 8" driver, 4" midrange and tweeters. The 8" driver and 4" midranges are obviously in the doors. Surprised I crammed those things in there, although the 4" drivers are about 1/3 covered .

Anyway I started playing around with the tweeters, I put them in the A pillars so far, right next to the window vent things. Im not sure if I like the results, due to the asymmetrical nature of the dash and the hump where the cluster pod is, the left tweeter seems to dominate the right tweeter.

Im considering- further down the dash so the tweeters are more equidistant, or forwards the door handles. Ive seen the in- the door handle done, but I would think the left one would be entirely too close to the ears. Im going to do some experimenting with duct tape and plumber's strapping but what have you all found?

I've got mine in the door pulls and they work great as far as I'm concerned. I set my crossovers to -1.5 db for the tweeters and adjusted the head unit balance to +1 towards the right speaker as well (when I'm driving alone).

Thats right ...

Ive done several Vette the same way ...

Pull the handle assem out .. hole saw - presto... you got tweeters ..
look stealth-

Sound great

Also allows you to do a nice 3 way set up in there- 6-4-1 or a 5-4-1 either way ..

Good luk

Ok I'm reentertaining the door pull idea.... how did you all get the tweeter to match the contour of the door pull? Dremel the heck out of the tweeter mount? Last time I did one I screwed it up.

The speaker grill of the tweeter does not match the contour of the door pull.. but the grill bubble shape doesn't protrude enough to be really noticable. Whenl I grab the handle my fingers never touch the grill.

Ive been doing some listening tests, I think I'm going to go with the base of the A pillars, firing up reflecting off of the windshield. So far it has given me the sound I'm most looking for. I can hear both the L and the R tweeters directly, and it images pretty good. Moving my head around the car, front back/left and right also it produces the most consistent sound. The downfall, is the tweeters will now sit directly in sunlight.

Thanks for the update! I've been wondering about my placement as well since the whole rearview mirrow thing. I'm thinking of running two sets of components up front with each having their own amp and having both components in the doors and the tweets set up in the rear view and the pillars. Do you think this would work? Having 4 tweets firing off the windshield (without the center channel speaker)?

I have been thinking of that as well since I saw those pics, as well as this link. http://www.cdtaudio.com/stagefront_c...ge_systems.htm

It made me think maybe those center speakers are much like his rear view mirror set up. I seem to be just thinking about this all the time now since I started the building/install 2 weeks ago.

Also, that alpine center channel has been on my mind. Been thinking about buying it and tearing out the speakers and mounting them under the defroster vent.
