im almost ready to do my whole stereo install and scott (frorum member simpleman68) is going to help me im installing a jl audio 300/4 for nowbut am running wire also for my future stealth box. i have a vert and dont want the amp(s) (in furture) not visible. where is the best place to install? ive heard of people installing behind passenger seat. if so how do you attache the amp. is there a better place. the small compartment in the rear probably not good right? amp might get to hot with my lloyd rug over the top. suggestions please. thanx brad
I've heard of people attaching a piece of MDF to the car underneath the carpet behind the seats, and then screwing an amp into the MDF through the carpet. Sounds like a good idea unless tall people ride in the car I guess. I wonder what the heat from the amps would do to the leather seats though if they came into contact?
amps get HOT , HOT and leather do not mix.
In the area behind the seats, there is actually some room behind that panel. Not a lot of room, but some. I have my crossovers mounted there.
if i use the center compartment is there room for the amp and alpine cd changer to fit under a stelath box. how does this setup sound?
The box I got from Subthump filled the center compartment, and I'm pretty sure the JL Stealthbox does the same since it's instructions actually tell you to put bolts through the bottom of it into the frame of your car.
Not a good idea anyway because you need air circulation around the amp(s) to help keep them cool.
I'm installing mine on the back wall of the trunk above the small compartments, they will just fit I'm not sure if I can mount them against the carpet or if I need to mount them to some MDF or metal
