I have a 90 vert and it seems as though the stereo went out today. If i turn up the volume all the way i can hear it just a little. The antenna comes up all the way and all the digitals read out, but really no sound. Curious if anyone has experienced this problem and what they did to fix it, keeping in mind I want to keep my car stock. Thanks for your help in advance.
If you have the Bose Gold system, and all of the speakers have weak sound, the CDM also called the Tuner/Receiver is probably bad.
It's a pain to remove. You need to drop the passenger side hush panel, disconnect about 6 wiring harness connectors which will then allow access to a black plastic tray that the CDM is mounted to. Then you need to remove 5 electrical connectors on the CDM and the antenna wire.
A used CDM from the junk yard will cost around $75.00 and up. To have yours repaired or exchanged will run around $250.00.
