I've been waiting for 4 months for Sony to release this stuff!!! MEX-R5 in dash DVD & XVM-F65WL wireless lcd monitor. I am going to have all Phoenix Gold amps and speakers with full Stinger wiring. I can't wait!! I figure it will take me about 2 weekends to install. I will share picts when done!!

Only 2 weekends??? I've spent 10 weeks building 4 fiberglass parts that still sren't done. :o
Here is info on the wireless LCD monitor: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-rjm91jf...earch=mex%2Dr5
It is by Sony. It works with their single DIN DVD player: MEX-R5. Don't get it from Crutchfield, they are expensive. CarDomain and Etronics.com are a lot cheaper.
The monitor communicates to the DVD player via 2.4Ghz wireless technology. The only "wire" you need to run is the base that has the power cord to the monitor. No additional wires need to be run. My plan is to recess the monitor into the headliner (Z06, no removable roof) between the sun visors. The angle should be perfect, so sitting in the car, you can see the LCD monitor, but from outside the car, you won't know it is in there.
I hope it will only take 2 weekends, could turn into 3. I have a spare headliner to mount the LCD monitor into and build the amp rack this weekend. Then next weekend will be running all the wires, replace factory crap and cut the mounting brackets for the door speakers. I am not doing anything too fancy (especially not as fancy as 74-Roadster's work...your stuff is amazing!!). Sub box is from Subthump.com, so it is done. I will take pictures of my progress!

are you hand sanding with sanding blocks (of various shapes)? it helps A LOT!
Well, it is installed!! And it looks BAD!!! I finished it tonight at 9:45 pm and just took my wife out for a spin with the new system. Man, does it HIT! I love the LCD Monitor as well. It turned out great! I still need to tune the system. I will take pictures tomorrow, if the weather is decent. Started to rain today around 3:00 and kept me waiting for the rain to stop (the rain finally stopped around 5:30).
Thanks scott_fx for the FAQs...they helped alot!!
