Car is a C5 coupe. Looking at using the following equiptment. CD- Alpine 9855, Door speakers CDT HD-642 3 way component set(200 watts RMS), Sub CDT CL-1015 classic 10" sub (400 watts RMS) and a Mmats SQ4150 4 channel amp (4X150) to drive it all. Also, have Dynamat for the doors and will order pre-cut heat/sound insulation for the cabin and hatch area. Anyting I am overlooking, and do ya think should I step up to the CDT ES-SQ10 euro-sport 10" sub.
Thanks for the input will be ordering in the next few days,
Design wise I am starting out with that same idea of components/single sub/single amp. I would also consider another set of tweeters mounted in the rear view mirror or in the A-pillars like in this thread http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...us&forum_id=20
Ya, I had been following that thread, VERY nice work, Love the rearview mirror, came out great. For me I think I will either mout in the door pull area or the A-pillar. Need to get the system hooked up and try a few different positions. What equiptment are you looking at?
I am looking at something very similar ... 3 ways in the doors with a 10" DVC sub. Rear fill is lame I was thinking either the same CDT's or the Dynaudio 7" 3.5" tweet set. Sub I am still undecided but leaning towards a 10w6. I have been trying to find a good quality amp that is 5 channel that will push enough watts to the bass but really have not found one I like. I have a feeling I will end up with a 500 wattx1 amp for the sub and a 150x4 amp for the components. Thinking the midbass on channel 1/2 and the mid and tweet sharing 3/4. I have always found it difficult to get enough midbass up front in most cars and I like the idea of being able to throw some more watts at them. I agree with the mention of a second set of tweets on the A pillars or the mirror (that looks SWEET) to raise the soundstage and with CDT's technology in that arena I think you would be well served to use it (get the soft dome for anything being bounced off of the windshield)
I like the looks and features of the Alpine DVA-9860. I just bought a sub/stealth type box from another forum member http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...04&forum_id=53. I already purchased the pre-cut kit from that crazycowboy dude. The JL 500/5 for power maybe. The JL XR653 or maybe a little more for the Focal 165V3E for regular components if I go that way. I really want to pursue this "upstage" type setup though. CDT HD-62US looks nice. Maybe I'll call Reus and see if they picemeal stuff out so I could get just the front portion.
Thanks to all and alot of good ideas and information here. There is so much information out there to look at, up stage being some of it, it can be a bit much. I am still not sure on the amp, not sure if it will be enough, SQ is my goal though. I'll keep pushing through and will make a decision in a few days, this will be my winter project.

Looks good to me. But just recently I've heard on this Audio Forum that the Alpine 98XX series is not so hot. check out http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...39&forum_id=20
This I suggest, go for the higher end sub, sq10, if it has the same sensisitivity (or higher) as the 1015. otherwise you'll always question yourself if you should have bought the better sub.
Same goes for you, fej, go with the 10W7 There isn't a better sub out there than the JL Audio W7 series Do I own a W7...no but I've read numerious reveiws and most use the 12W7 as a reference to compare all other subs too.
Personnally, I have not seen a MMATS amp used for anything else but SPL vehicles, they were one of the first to make a serious wattage amp. I'm sure that that lower power (since when is 600 watts lower power ) MMATS amp will be just fine.

Thanks for the info. I have heard that the last generation Alpine was better liked, but atleast I don't have one to compare to. Looked at the Eclipse but they seem over complicated and don't like the look either. So, in this case I will most likely go with the Alpine. As for the sub, I may step up and I may even go with the JL. Problem with the W7 is it is 8" deep and I want a stealth box not flush. This is a last decision that needs to be made.
