I am looking to put in a new system in the C6. Anyone tell me what's good and what each speaker's size is. I went to one place nearby and the dude wanted like $2500 w/o a head unit (JL everything). I went searching online and did the math and it's no where near that. Any help would be appreciated.
I put in a low profile 12 inch pioneer sub with eclipse amp and the bose system sounds A+++++. It now sounds as good as the C6. It only cost $1500 for custome install. I started out with JL audio digital amp but could not get FM so I settled for a non digital eclipse but it sounds so sweet.
The only thing is my 05 stereo w/nav can't play MP3s. Do you know of any fix?

Car Stereo is way more expensive than home audio.I guess its just labor intensive ,I paid 3k for an Alpine top of the line CD/mp3/ player with Xm jl 8" subs in the doors, mbquart 4" reference coaxilal's in the fronts,5.125 in the rears and 3 alpine v12 220 watt stereo power amps.I planned on spending a couple of hundred bucks to upgrade but the results were less than inspiring. The only saving grace is the system sounds wonderful and makes the car so much more fun to be in,but then again I love my music. It really depends on the results that will satisfy your needs.

Home audio can be insane, I know a guy with over 400k invested in his home audio system. His interconect cables are 10k per meter and hes got 7 channels to run.Ive seen front speakers that run 200k and some guys still use tubes and record players...this months audiophile mag lists a high end record player at 78k.
I just looked at a similar system - 2 JL Audio 8's in the storage compartments, JL Audio 6.5 + 1" tweeters for the doors, and keep rears stock. Add to that 2 JL Audio amps, and we're talking 2k. But it will sound sweet!
I spent alot but well worth it to me. My head unit with nav was 1600 alone. Dyno'ed the whole car keg 2 amps MB Quart Q series Jl 8W7's custom box the works.

For 1500.00 I put a together a 1200 watt surround sound system of JBL speakers,Yamaha Amps and subs and Sony dvd /scad/dvd audio player.Shopped around and purchased off the internet fromvarious suppliers.A comparable system for your car would cost 10k.

Sounds like a good deal, but certainly, the sky is the limit with home equipment. I know several people that have spent upwards of 40 grand on true high fidelity systems. You can get lots of watts for a good deal, and it will sound pretty good, but once you get in to the real high end home equipment, be prepared to open up that bank account.

just curious; how do you compare the two? home and car audio are two completely different animals
$400K for a home stereo?? Would your friend like to adopt me
When it comes to $ for equipment, I can see home stereo being more expensive. When it comes to install, car stereo is more expensive. Of coarse, "there are exceptions to the rule"
