I do not think so because your radio was designed soooo long ago. If you have a remote disc player there is a conversion plug available. If you have an aux. amp you can go direct. I have heard that the fm adapters have a hum or noise that is not good. NEW Radio?
This was my solution: http://salestores1.com/aufmfmmoanda.html
It's an FM modulator, but not a transmitter (those suck). The cable from the antenna plugs into it, and another cable runs from it to the antenna jack on the radio. When it's turned on it removes the antenna signal so there's no interference. It does have to be hard wired in to a keyed source. It comes with a tiny toggle switch that I installed beside the cigarette lighter. It has RCA plugs so you'll need an RCA to miniplug adapter cable. I ran it up through the bottom of the cupholder. When you're not using the mp3, unplug the cable, push it back down in the console and close the ashtray door; nothing visible. I liked it so much I put 1 in our Suburban. Circuit City has them.
I believe this harness Peripheral PXHGM2 will connect an Ipod2car adapter to your 96. Most interfaces are compatible with 97 and up. This will allow an older model to use the interface.
I rigged up an MP3 player through my stock Bose Gold radio, 94. FM modulator is the only way I could come up with. The first FM modulator I used sounded like CRAP. It was the kind that plugs into the antenna. I went to a shop that does this kind of work and they sold me a “stronger” FM modulator, same basic thing they just said theirs was better stronger. I switched them out, huge improvement. The part number on the good FM modulator is ATC MAKX01 $34.99. No CDs to keep up with, lots of music, I like it. The sound is not perfect but its good enough and I did not have to gut the dash and put in a new system.
The poeple at Cuircit City said that the cassett adapter was much better sounding that the fm transmitter but I was worried about how the casset adapter goes in and drops and what the attached cord would do to the opening door on the radio, have you had any problems with the cord?

No problems so far, only concern is just the wire not getting tangled up anywhere. The sound is just awsome.

Depends on where the cord is located. I have seen some tapes where you can change where the cord exits the tape.
