Looking for a GPS that is reasonably priced that will do an adequate job.
Needs to be portable and have a large enough screen that can be read without stopping to see way points.
My wife wants one but I am not sure how much she will use it after she gets it! Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

I started off with the Garmin Street PilotIII about 3 years ago. It's nicer these days, portable too.
But I upgraded to the Pioneer AVIC D1 in dash 6.5 screen..dvd.added on and 12 dic CD changer. That is the way to go....my $.02

A friend of mine Oaks99 member here just bought Garmin Street Pilot C320. He says that it works out pretty good
I guess it looks something like this
I have the Garmin Street pilot C330 (the difference in the 330 vs. 320 is a hardrive with maps on the 330 vs. an sdram card on the 320 which needs to have the maps downloaded to it. You can't go wrong with this unit. It is very portable, and quite reliable. It gives voice guided turn by turn directions.

Garmin Street Pilot 2720 here, Unit has touch screen, or you can use the remote control that comes with it, it talks to you, telling you the street names and which way to turn, if you miss a turn for what ever reason, it recalculates your route, also comes with free updates, some make you buy the updates. Can't go wrong (no pun intended). Good luck on your choice.
Thanks for the info guys.
Looks like the Garmin unit is very popular. I like the way talon90 has his mounted.
Still somewhat confused with all the offerings I see on the web though. Looks like Palm has something you can buy and add onto a PDA? I'm an old man trying to keep up with the electronic age and its not working!! :o
Cars and how to drive them; I understand very well...getting my PDA to talk to my television thrugh my computer by dialing my cell phone!!???!!$$$just drives my

A quick question for those with Garmin 2610 or 2720 how do you have yours mounted in your car.
I have the 2610 and don't have mine mounted at all. The unit comes with a portable bean bad cushion that it sits on with a felt bottom, which makes it convenient to use in any car. When I want to use it, I set mine up on the dash. Unless I am at WOT, it always stays put nicely.
Our son has been assigned to monitoring the GPS system for the Air Force, so for Christmas this year he gave Mom and Dad a Garmin C320. We used it a little last weekend and it's really cool. Nice and portable, as others have mentioned. It uses a suction cup system to attach to a dash. It needs to be on a very smooth surface, so they provide one plastic disk that adheres with tape to the dash. I'll be going to a crafts store to get extra plastic disks. Garmin wants $9 each for them.
