Dr. Don's or aftermarket are your choices, the CD is dead and only Dr. Don can fix it. I am about to replace mine with an aftermarket.

I want to replace it with an aftermarket, my question is which aftermarket heads are good. some mdel #'s or websites that have them would be nice.. has anyone put in an aftermarket stereo, is it difficult, do i need new speakers? wiring? connectors?

From what everyone has said, junk the stock system completely and get yourself a double din system and new speakers.
You might throw a code, there is a thread about getting around this problem.

There is an adapter designed to allow you to keep the bose amps and speakers but generally you can spend a few dollars more and get all new speakers and be done with the bose garbage and it will sound 100x better. What exactly are you looking for goals, features, pricing etc

Im just looking for a decent replacement. nothing expensive, dont want it to get broken into unless it has a removable face plate. but I would like some suggesions from you guys that have already replaced yours on which ones are good. can you please name a few systems or give a me a website with stereos for vettes. I would also like the replacement not to look way out of stock, I would like it to look like it belongs there. ive seen people put in silver stereos and I just could not do that. are their entire kits that can be bought with speakers? ive never changed a stero in my cars so im compleely lost on this one.
