Turned on my radio this morning(Bose with CD in a 91) and all I get is a hissing noise..worked well the other day, since I'm at work can't get to my Helm's so I'm hoping someone has an idea or two, this thing is a stock system. Thanks
Hissing through all sources? (tape, CD, tuner) Hissing in all speakers? Just one speaker? Tuner only could be an antenna connection popped loose either at the deck or the connection at the antenna itself. Could also be that your poor deck died
I am not too familiar with the 90's era vette stereo but basically there are 3 possible options .. 1) deck is dead and is no longer providing a source to your speakers. 2) the amps (if so equipped) to the speakers died and are no longer providing power 3) see the first reply.
Also have you checked if it happens with something other than the tuner or is the hissing from all sources? (cd, tuner etc)
Also I am not quite sure from your reply are the front speakers working normally? Or are there front speakers installed?
Fej- don't have front speakers installed. Haven't tried the CD,but will give that a try when I get home. Thanks Looks like I've got some work to do this weekend on this system,or a good excuse to look at a different system altogether.
Gotcha. If I can make one suggestion .. don't put any of the Blose back in A suitable replacement system without even thinking about amps or subs can be had for the price of 2 bose amplified speakers and will sound much better.
Check out the c4 audio faq sticky at the top .. lots of stuff in there.
