c5 cd changer
just looking for a definitive answer on this. I've got a 98 vert .. stock head unit and cd changer. Should the cd changer play cdrs? If not, is there an aftermarket, direct bolt-on replacment?

well...some people have had luck, some have not. some have better luck ripping at 4x speed some do not. that the best i can do for ya. there used to be a kenwood cdchanger that would play cd-r's as well as mp3 cd's. check the c5 tech tips (i think i may have included it in the c5 audio faq too. it's not a direct bolt in though, i am pretty sure you'll need a oem interface...but it's something that just goes inline...very easy

Back when I had my GM changer it would play any CD (r or rw) that had regular audio songs recorded on it, but only if the disc had been finalized. They would play just like store bought CD's if I recorded them on 2x or 4x speed, but had a tendancy to skip if I let the computer record them as fast as it could.
