Default Audio Question... WOW! Pics inside.

My stereo is a 7" touch screen kenwood. I have been having problems with it shorting out. Tonight I tore into it trying to fix the problem. It seems that the car has had the factory wiring harness moved to the rear compartment or something. It is crazy. Here are the pics. Am I crazy?

Should I pull all the wires out or what? Also How do I install 6x9's in the rear? Do I need adapters to make them fit?

The Bomber

edit. Cant get the pics to work. How do I paste them into here?

the harness is supposed to be in the back, that is where the actuall "guts" for the factory radio is...kind of odd. If you want to run new wires back there and use a GM plug, thats your call, I did in mine but made a ground by my radio.

As for 6x9s i believe those are the factory sizes in the rear

Ok so I found out that in fact the reciever is connected in the rear compartment. Now can I strip those wires out and move the connection to the dash?

yeah its a weird design...he probably didnt measure or made it too long...better than being too short and just didnt trim it. I would also try to ground it by the radio especially if it is shorting out, the factory ground in the back is tiny

I made 6x9 plates to fit the wells in the back corners of the car. I will go take some pics to show. I am towards the end of my install, it is hooked up, but just trying to figure out how to mount my amps.

Cut those wires out, rewire the whole thing, make the ground as short as possible. It is quite possible to have something slice and dice those cables and the slightest nick against metal can cause problems, and you may never find it. Replace the wiring. Yeah it is a pain, but better
than spending another $1000 on the head unit when it burns up.
