Default Installing a V1

Have only had my new 06-C6 for a few weeks and am installing The V1.
I need some experienced help. I'm going to tap the multi plug on the forward facing side of the rear view mirror for both the 12v and ground. To do this, I need to either unplug the plug or take the mirror from its mount. I've inspected both and see no good way to do it.
All suggestions are welcome.
This is my first vette; it is a vert, VR, 3LT, A6. and I Love it!!

There has been quite a few posts on this. Bugman has some great step-by-step photos on his site. I can't find the site address - maybe someone else can help you there.

The mirror harness will un-plug easily. There is a little latch at the top of the plug in the middle.

Hope this helps.

If you ordered the power cable that plugs to the mirror harness its like a 2sec install. Pull the clip off that back of the mirror (feel around with your fingers you can feel how it pops off). Then just insert the little plug into the correct hole.

I have the visor mount with it as well. Works perfect, no rattles and solid as a rock while driving.

The Great Lakes Trophy bracket's a great way to mount the detector, also.

Default V1 Install

I did this the other night myself. I turned the mirror all the way to the side and pulled out the power clip by pressing on the thing at the top to release it. I then used the invisicord and plugged it in as directed and used the great lakes mirror mount.

It is the perfect combo and took about 2-5 mins to install. It was a cinch and it looks great.

Good luck,

Steve

I used that same cord from Great Lakes - if you put it in the correct spot on the harness it turns on and off with your car.

Almost 12 months now and working great.

I could not imagine having another detector after getting used to the Valentines directional arrows.

If i'm not mistaken, if you have the powered mirror (3LT for sure, maybe 2LT), then you don't have to turn it off and on. It will turn on when the car is on and turn off when the car is off (assuming the proper wires are used). If you don't have the powered mirror, then you have to turn off the V1 when you turn off the car...otherwise it will stay on).

anyone, please correct me if i stated something incorrect. thanks.

My C6 is on order. I Love my V1.
On my C5 I tapped into an unused accessory fuse in the fuse box under the passanger footwell. Ran the V1 power cord from the fuse box up the door pillar to the visor.
Very simple. $2 for a fuse adaptor at the auto parts store.
Turns on/off with the car.
My question, anything similar on the C6?

Sounds right to me. Several of us have the InvisiCord, which only takes 2 minutes to install, and it turns off when the ignition is turne off. No worries about a dead battery.

What i think is the problem is that people buy that radar detector for their C6 and then follow the instructions given online. Whenever you install an elctronic device you must test the wire first... Whenever i install remote starts or full security systems, i test every wire for polarity. +/- with a voltometer.

With the Invisicord you don't have to screw with door pillar, just plug in a very small wire to rearview mirror power plug.
